to put it technically you need to have your back foot in the sweet spot and lean on it to get the rails out of the water a bit. if you dont do that when you try to turn the rails stay in the groove and you just sort of flop off the board.
bear in mind some of thos logs just dont turn all that well anyway... they are built for triming and nose acts
my shaping genius has to be bob mctavish
if your talking about when you sitting on the board waiting for sets - image the board lying on the floor in a narrow alley way and how you would pick it up and manuver it so it was pointing the other way (up and over not around)

ahh - alleyways...nice. makes sense. i am waiting for the opportunity to buy a log super cheap - some city type who bought one and has only used it once and it hit him in the face...yeah
